1. Is online learning for me?
That’s up to you! The online student must take responsibility for his or her own learning. In any online education program, the student must be a self-directed learner, be motivated to study, and have a basic grasp of the Internet. 2. How does this work? Because all of our courses are online, Advanced Academics offers students flexibility that they might not receive in a traditional setting. Our curriculum is challenging, interactive, and self-paced. All of our courses are backed by our staff of highly-qualified, certified teachers who are available via instant message, phone, or e-mail. We also offer a 24/7 student support environment so that you can get help when you need it. I like the sound of that! 3. Is the Advanced Academics online program accredited? Yes! Advanced Academics is fully accredited by both The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA) and the North Central Association (NCA). Courses are aligned to state standards. What the heck does that mean? It means you’re in a quality program. 4. What materials are needed in order to take Advanced Academics’ courses? All of the courses offered by Advanced Academics can be taken 100% online, so there very little need for any additional materials. Some advanced courses may require additional materials. The only things you really need to begin your coursework are Internet access and a computer. All of our courses can be accessed through dial-up Internet access, but high-speed access is recommended. 5. What is the cost of taking online courses? The standard cost per online course enrollment is $395. However, if Advanced Academics is a partner with your local school or district, the same funding used for traditional students can be used for online students; therefore, most students could take their courses online for FREE. That’s right, I said FREE. Some restrictions may apply. 6. How do I bring Advanced Academics to my school? Contact your school’s principal/administrator about taking classes online through Advanced Academics. For an easy, step-by-step guide to bringing online learning to your school, click here. 7. What do I need to do to succeed in an online course? When you take an online course, you need to prepare yourself as you would for any course in a classroom setting. Remember, we’re completely online, so your teacher is online and not face-to-face, and your textbook is on a computer. Wow, how about that technology! *Tip from Mr. AAI* In an online course, time management is important to your success because most activities can be accomplished on your own and you don’t necessarily have to be online at the same time as your teacher or other students. 8. Who is my teacher? Your teacher for each course is a certified classroom teacher who has experience teaching online courses. Your first introduction to your teacher will be in a welcome e-mail letter that you will receive when your course is approved by your district. You will also receive a welcome phone call from your teacher after your enrollment is approved. Your teacher will give you an overview of the course and answer any questions you have. 9. How do I receive credit for courses? Upon successful completion of each course, your teacher will send you a congratulatory e-mail. Your school district will grant you credit for your course if you successfully complete it. 10. Who will issue my diploma? Typically, the school in which we partner with will issue the diploma on behalf of the online program. What's the best part? In most cases, if you’re enrolled in the online program, you will be able to attend a graduation ceremony along with your fellow students! Pretty cool, eh? |
